Kia Highlights EV Innovations at 2024 Kia EV Day in Asia Pacific

Kia Asia Pacific held its first regional EV Day in Taiwan, presenting a selection of its current and upcoming electric vehicle (EV) lineup alongside concept models. The event, following the success of the global Kia EV Day in 2023, provided a platform for Kia to highlight its EV-focused innovations and strategies.

The showcase included the Kia EV3, set for release in selected Asia Pacific markets in 2025, and the Concept PV5, which made its regional debut. Also featured were the flagship Kia EV9 and the Concept EV4, representing Kia’s vision for future EV design and technology.

Spotlight on the Kia EV3

The Kia EV3 aims to expand the compact EV SUV segment, incorporating design elements and technology from Kia’s larger EV models. Built on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV3 includes advanced features such as Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control and driver assistance systems like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 and Highway Driving Assist 2. The vehicle’s design reflects Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, with a modern, sporty appearance designed to appeal to a broad audience.

Concept Models and Future Innovations

Kia also introduced the Concept PV5, its first dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) model. Designed as a versatile mobility solution, the PV5 caters to a range of uses, from logistics to personal travel, with a focus on customization and adaptability. The Concept EV4, a modern luxury sedan, blends cutting-edge technology with design inspired by natural elements.

Kia’s Broader EV Strategy

The event emphasized Kia’s commitment to sustainability and the expansion of its EV lineup. By 2030, Kia aims to sell 1.6 million EVs annually, supported by a global network of six EV production bases planned for operation by 2025. Kia’s strategy includes a mix of battery electric vehicles, hybrid models, and internal combustion engines to cater to diverse markets and price points.

Kia also highlighted its efforts to enhance the customer experience through personalized technologies and seamless integration across all touchpoints, from in-store interactions to connected car features.
