The recent analysis by AutoFlip has identified the three worst regions for speeding in New Zealand. The results are shocking.

The Waitemata police district is the nation’s leading region for speeding offences, with an average of 1.06 speeding tickets issued per person between 2019 and 2023.

Following closely is the Counties Manukau district, recording an infringement rate of 0.88 per capita. Alarmingly, this region has seen a consistent year-on-year increase, escalating from 0.12 in 2019 to 0.25 in 2023.

The Tasman region also ranks high, with 0.8845 infringements over the past five years, indicating that drivers in this scenic area are frequently exceeding speed limits.

What about the Safest Drivers in New Zealand:

In contrast, Auckland City boasts one of the lowest speed infringement rates per capita, standing at 0.30. This suggests that drivers in the bustling metropolis are more adherent to speed regulations compared to their regional counterparts. Closely behind is Wellington.

The New Zealand Police provided us a statement on the importance of speed limits:  “As of midnight 19 Nov 2024, there had been 56 fewer deaths on the road this year than at the same time in 2023. Police has been working tirelessly to keep people safe on the roads through our focus on speed and other unsafe behaviours on the roads. Speed cameras support this work as we can’t be everywhere at all times.”

This analysis serves as a stark reminder of the prevalent speeding issues across various regions in New Zealand. It underscores the necessity for drivers to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and contribute to making the nation’s roads safer for all.
